Football is a pivotal part of your Thanksgiving Day.

For those who are members within either the Fordham Prep or Xavier communities, it is everything on Thanksgiving. The two Jesuit schools put all their energy in to making the Turkey Bowl a centerpiece of their school's culture. Whether it is in Brooklyn, or the Bronx, it is always an exciting game to attend.

The 2019 edition of the Turkey Bowl will kickoff tomorrow November 28, Thanksgiving, at Aviator Field, near Marine Park Brooklyn,

Fordham Prep (3-6) will take on Xavier (3-5) tomorrow, and it is set to be a hard fought game as always.

Fordham Prep includes key players with names like Jayden Wiggins, Michael Adair, Owen Loffredo, and Zach Wallace. This season, Fordham Prep beat Xaverian. They also beat St. Francis Prep, once in the regular season, and once in the playoffs. Their playoff loss was in Mineola, against Chaminade. Patrick Deane, is the Head Coach of Fordham Prep.

"While Fordham & Xavier have a healthy rivalry in other sports, the Turkey Bowl is like no other.  It's a special day for both our alumni, especially those who have played or coached in it the game.  This game holds special meaning for many Fordham Prep & Xavier alumni," said Mr. Anthony Kurtin, director of athletics at Fordham Prep. Kurtin said he has attended it every year as athletic director.

"Football is one of the oldest sports in Fordham Prep's history with a rich tradition lasting over 130 years. Many of our alumni have played or coached so there is a very large contingency who share in the bond of playing football at Fordham Prep," said Kurtin."

"Being a student-athlete here at the Prep allows you to be part of something special.  It allows you to meet other young men from all different areas & backgrounds to come together for a common goal. Most importantly being involved in a sport teaches you life skills. Whether it be time management, responsibility, hard work, dedication, sportsmanship, working with others or pushing yourself when faced with adversity."

"It is one of the rich Fordham Prep traditions that makes the Fordham Prep experience so great," said Clark, a current student. "It's an occasion for our school community to proudly come together - current students, alumni, faculty and staff. The Turkey Bowl lets us embrace the brotherhood that makes Fordham Prep special."

Xavier includes key players like Andrew Scariano, Frank Bernie, Matthew Geruso, and Dylan McLaren. This season, Xavier had wins over St. Francis Prep, St. John the Basptist, and St. Peter's. Coincidentally, they lost a week later to the Eagles in the Quarterfinals.

"It is a great thing for alumni to attend," said Patrick Sullivan, Xavier Class of 2016. Sullivan has attended in 2012, 14, 16, and 18. He attends all the even-numbered games because of his locaility to the Prep.

Certainly many people will watch tomorrow to see if the Rams will take it to the Bronx or the Sons of Xavier will take it to 16th Street.
