Cornwall Senior Running Back Tyler Vanderpool credited the Dragons offensive line in a 50-22 statement win over the Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors.
"They've worked so hard, and I'm really proud of what they've done."
Sophomore Wide Receiver Justen Tolbert returned the kickoff at the beginning of the third quarter for a touchdown.
Tolbert thanks the Dragons' special teams unit.
"I saw that ball, it was wide open, and right there, and I thank them all the time," said Tolbert of the Dragons special teams unit.
Senior Wide Receiver and captain Dylan Verseyweld also scored a touchdown for the Dragons.
"We just made a statement to the whole section," said Cornwall Dragons Head Coach Kevin Arduino.
Despite the big win for Cornwall, the Dragons had two turnovers in the first half.
"We can't let that happen in the playoffs," said Arduino.
"The Offe line is the best I've seen since I returned to coach at Cornwall," said assistant coach Rich Ward.
Ward previously coached at other schools in Orange and Ulster counties and was suspended for a few seasons.
"You're getting off the ball, I heard the helmets cracking, and I'm proud of everybody here," said Ward.
Lourdes did score first, however it would be all Cornwall, going 42-14 after the game's first touchdown from Joey Tempestilli.
"They beat us on a couple of long plays, we could have kept things close, but they're a very good football team," said Lourdes Head Coach Sean Keenan.
"The reason they are 9-0, is because they are very physical, well coached, and a good team."
Keenan attributes the loss to not having starters Drew Kozak, and Noey Ledesma.
"It makes us bring up long kids that play hard, but they have almost no experience."
